Extended Family in Huntington Beach

It was July 4th, and a gorgeous perfect day in Huntington Beach. The traffic was light, and the breeze was cool and filled with clean ocean smells.  This gorgeous family all came together from different parts of the country for a family session.  With a one year old, and a 7 week old life is never predictable, but it’s always worth it.  It was so great to meet this family.  I’ll have your gallery ready asap!

Independence Day

The 4th of July has always been a favorite holiday for me. Growing up in Utah we would always drive up the canyon and have a picnic. The kids would wade in the icy cold water, and occasionally have water fights that ended in us being drenched. Fireworks were a huge part of our 4th. My parents liked to find a spot as close to the source as possible so that the embers from the fireworks would actually land all around us. We laid down on our backs to see them they were so close. It was also a favorite holiday for me because my birthday is exactly one week after the 4th, and we would always celebrate it on the 4th with the family. Getting presents and watching fireworks is pretty cool.

This year the 4th of July lasted 2 days here at our house. We had a 3rd of July BBQ with family and friends that included water balloons and of course my boy turning the hose on everyone before fireworks. On the actual 4th we went to my Grandmother’s house for a swim and yummy lunch, then later that night more fireworks. It just makes me happy to be alive on warm summer nights out under the stars.

Tim loves taking pictures of the fireworks. Here are some of his shots.

Bubbles and Friends in Thousand Oaks

July 2nd, 2009

I’ve made it to 30 weeks along now. Only 10 more weeks to go until our little bundle of joy is expected. I’m so excited to see the little guy, and to get my body back. Until then I will continue to enjoy the summer with these kiddos.

A month or so ago I sent out a newsletter and asked if anyone was interested in me borrowing their children (with the parents present of course) to use as models.  It’s not that I don’t get enough experience photographing children, it’s just that my sister Michelle and I are working together on a new project.  We are so excited to get it up and running.  We are bouncing ideas off of each other, and right now experimenting on our own children.  We have 6 1/2 children just between the two of us so we have plenty to work with right now.  Her degree in graphic design is going to compliment my photography perfectly.  Thank you to all of you who responded and offered to let me use their beautiful children as models.  I’m sure I’ll be calling you soon.

I wanted to share one of my first sessions with you.  I love the bright colors, I just hope I didn’t go overboard with them.
