People laugh at me because I love office supplies. Going into Staples makes me happy. I like to browse through the new styles of post-it notes, paper clips, and reams of paper. Brand new pens, pencils, and most of all fresh boxes of crayons and markers put a huge smile on my face. I know I’m weird, and I fully admit it. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a former teacher, but the first day of school has always been a big day for me. My children must get ready early enough to take that first day of school photo in the front yard, or two or 12. Here are our pictures from this morning. Oh I hope they are having a great day with their new teachers making new friends, and catching up with the ones from past years. I’m excited to go pick them up in only 3 hours.

Here is our 2nd grader. He couldn’t wait for us to drop off our 4th grader.  He ran to his classroom without us.Photobucket

Our 4th grader was a lot more nervous.  She’s in a 4th/5th split this year.  Those 5th graders are intimidating.Photobucket

Those backpacks are heavy with all the stuff we had to take on the first day of school.Photobucket

The whole family walks to the first day of school, including Daddy.  Next year that little girl in the red dress will have her own backpack to carry to Kindergarten, and there will be a 1 year old in a stroller with us.Photobucket

Finally at their desks, and ready to say goodbye.Photobucket

To be Young | Mooorpark Children’s Photography

Summer nights are so gorgeous in Southern California.  I just love how the heat subsides, and a cool breeze rolls in making being outside the only place to be. The other night I was outside with my youngest, and her sister’s American Girl Doll and stroller. I brought my camera with me, and I’m so glad I did. As we were chatting and walking I couldn’t believe how much she has grown and changed in the last few months. She talks with this sense of confidence and maturity that I just love, while still being a little girl so innocent and sweet. Looking at these pictures reminds me of why I love photography. As her mother I see little things in her expressions that mean so much to me. Little things that I never want to forget as she gets older. I’m so glad I will have these pictures to remind me of what she was like at 4.

Almost There

My due date is two weeks from today on 09/09/09.  I can hardly wait for that day.  This pregnancy seems to be lasting 12 months, but the end is in site, and I just might make it.  Despite the fact that I like to take maternity pictures of others, I absolutely hate having my picture [...]

My due date is two weeks from today on 09/09/09.  I can hardly wait for that day.  This pregnancy seems to be lasting 12 months, but the end is in site, and I just might make it.  Despite the fact that I like to take maternity pictures of others, I absolutely hate having my picture taken when I’m pregnant.  I blow up like a balloon, especially this time with my 4th.  Tim and I had a few minutes before my last session and I reluctantly agreed to let him take my picture.  I still can’t believe I’m posting this, but here I am in all my 9 months pregnant glory.

If you are on facebook or twitter with me you will recognize the picture on the right as my profile picture. No, I cannot see my swollen toes when I look straight down, but I bent over to get them in the shot for this one.

I’ve known this family for a very very long story. In fact I babysat the oldest two boys when I was about 13 or 14. Their mother was the first one to let me drive a car when I was the same age, but I won’t say anymore about that in case her younger children are reading this. Their mother might not like me ratting her out. Of course we were on a very deserted road and completely safe. Then there was that time when we were tping with her, and we had to hide in the bushes because a police car drove by very slowly. These children don’t need to know how rebellious their mother really is.  She must be brave because she went on to have three more children for a total of 5.  Here they all are at the beach in Malibu.

I just love this picture.  I remember when she was born.  My sister and I visited their house and got to hold her as a baby.  Now she’s a college student, and one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met.Photobucket

T and B are stunningly gorgeous.  I took their pictures last year before Christmas, and I was so pleased to see them again last weekend.  It’s so fun to see families grow up.

Baby Colby | Moorpark Newborn Photography

August 18th, 2009

Little Colby was such a joy to photograph. I’ve known his family for about 2 years now, and this is baby #4 for them. In fact I took their family pictures last fall. This little guy was so sweet, cooperative, and easy to work with.  That smile says it all.

Baby Jack | Moorpark Newborn Photography

August 17th, 2009

Jack was very alert, and unbelievably strong for being 10 days old.  His daddy was very happy he was awake for his first photo session.  It was so nice to meet Jack, who looks just like his daddy.  It was fun to see his parents and grandparents so proud of this little guy.

Birth Announcements | Ventura County Baby Photographer

August 16th, 2009

I recently shipped off these baby announcements to a fabulous client, and thought I would share what they looked like.  My announcements are simple in style to let your baby be the focus.  After all that’s what people want to see anyways. They are printed on either linen or pearl paper for outstanding quality.  You [...]

About a year ago Tim’s sister Cheryl, and her family moved from here to Texas. It was sad for all of us because we had become so close to her children. I watched Ethan and Abby at my house for over a year in the mornings. Sophie was especially sad to see her friend and daily playmate move. They came back for a visit last month, and it is amazing how fast children grow and change. Little Ethan was hardly speaking when they left, and now he talks non-stop. Abby has grown taller, and has an air of maturity about her she didn’t before.

These girls are my nieces by Tim’s other sister Beth. They are some of my favorite subjects to photograph. I’m sure you can see why.
