The Beach on Labor DaySeptember 29th, 2010I’m dreaming of our care-free summer. We went to the beach a lot, and it never ever ever got old. It’s time to go back. |
AutumnSeptember 28th, 2010Fall is hands down my favorite time of year. Not the extreme heat we’ve had the past few days, but the crisp chill in the air, pumpkins, sunflowers, golden sunsets, and more snuggle time with the family. Go away record breaking heat, and come back cool air. It’s time. These were taken before this session [...] |

These were taken before this session one early morning earlier this month (your slide show is on its way Sarah). It’s my favorite time to be outside just me and my camera.

I was so excited to hear from Stephani a couple of months ago. She and her family were coming back to Southern California, and she wanted more family photos. I first met them 2 years ago in La Jolla. Since then they have added a new member of their family, and I couldn’t wait to meet her. She wasn’t as excited to meet me after spending 3 hours in the car in bumper to bumper traffic. I don’t blame her. It’s hard to be a one year old, and strapped into the car seat for so long. Her brother and sister were tons of fun. I could have played with them all day. They are quite possibly the sweetest, kindest, happiest children I have met, and I’ve met a lot of them.

Yes it is only September, and the holidays seem so far off you don’t even want to think about it, but now is the time to plan. I have only 1 more spot available for my mini sessions on October 2nd. That’s the easiest most economical way to get a holiday session with cards or digital files. I also have a handful of premium sessions left for October and November. If you’re thinking of booking give me a call.
I have several clients waiting for me to release my 2010 Holiday card designs. Here they are, and they are stunning! These cards were designed by graphic designers Michelle Pedersen and Jamie Schultz, and will be completely customized for you and your photos. The coloring and wording can be changed to match your color schemes and photographs. They are printed on beautiful press print linen paper. You have the option of 5×7″ flat cards with printing on the front and back, 5×7″ folded cards with printing on the front, inside spread, and the back, or a 5×5″ trifold cards with 6 sides.
You can purchase them through my shopping cart here. Simply choose the style you want, purchase the type of card, and I will contact you so we can talk about how to make the card you will be thrilled to mail out this holiday season.
A Day in the LifeSeptember 21st, 2010I have 4 kids. Yes, FOUR. That is a lot I know. People often stop me in the store or around town and ask me if they are all mine as if I’m the Octomom. Sometimes I think back to the days when I had only one little baby at home with me. Those were [...] |

Sometimes I think back to the days when I had only one little baby at home with me. Those were the good old days. Life was simple and revolved around nap time and play dates. My biggest challenge was getting that little baby to eat. She hated eating as if it were the same thing as cleaning toilets. Luckily she happily eats these days even if she still prefers very few things in comparison to most people. With the addition of each new child came a new schedule, new routines, and new activities in our lives. My 4th baby’s childhood will be very different from my first; both equally wonderful and happy, just different. I decided a few weeks ago to document a typical day for my 1 year old starting at breakfast, and ending at bedtime. I made it into the slide show below. I added a little video in there, but keep in mind I’m no video wiz, so please don’t pay too close attention to all the mistakes. My hope is to be able to look back on this in the future and remember what our lives were like today because I’m sure it will be different.

As I drove to my session with Hanah I looked down through the hills above the beach and saw a thick layer of fog. I was dreading what I would find once I arrived at the beach. By the time I parked my car much of the marine layer had lifted and the sun was peaking through. I had high hopes for beautiful sunny filled photos, and I was not disappointed. The sun came out for our entire session against all odds, and we were able to get some gorgeous photos of this high school senior. I wish I had her confidence when I was in high school, but if I looked like she does I probably wouldn’t have a problem either.
Good luck on your journey to become a surgeon. I’m sure you will be fantastic!

One day I noticed I was getting quite a few hits on an older blog post . Of course I was curious why this website was linking to mine so I clicked over and discovered Becoming Sarah, and I’ve been reading it ever since. Sarah is an amazing writer, and I love her spin on motherhood. I love that she doesn’t complain and whine about how difficult it can be. She’s a huge advocate for children’s literacy, and as a former teacher I have no choice but to love that too. I was honored to meet up with Sarah, her husband, and adorable little one Charlotte for a family photo session. It was super early, a little chilly and wet, but we managed to have fun anyway.

For those of you waiting to book your mini session for October 2nd don’t wait too long. Just click on that button above labeled contact and let me know. It’s the perfect time to get it done in time for the holidays.

Here are my 2 boys who celebrate birthdays just over a month apart. They had a great time with the wagon my oldest daughter got on her first birthday 10 years ago.

I will be updating this blog in the next few days. If things appear a little crazy it’s just me fixing things up.

Many clients choose to purchase some or all of the digital files from their session with me. If you purchase the entire session you will receive a custom CD case to hold your precious data as well as 5×7″ prints of every photo from your session. I like to provide the prints so you can see what the photo is supposed to look like printed from a high quality lab. There is a huge difference in quality from discount stores and professional labs. I want you to have beautiful prints so I provide you with a print release as well as information on how to care for your files. I will also recommend printing labs that will make beautiful prints for you.
