Mike and Karina

June 22nd, 2011

No, I am not a wedding photographer. I am often asked to do weddings, and every time I say no. For some reason last year when Karina called I said yes. I still am not sure exactly why, but I’m guessing it’s because there was something about Karina that just made me feel it was [...]

I still am not sure exactly why, but I’m guessing it’s because there was something about Karina that just made me feel it was something I wanted to do. She and Mike are a wonderful couple. I met them for the first time in person only a few days before their wedding and found them to be so relaxed, confident, and down to earth. Tim and I had fun photographing their wedding in Santa Paula. Their families were wonderful. We felt right at home.

Congratulations! It was an honor to be a part of your big day. We are so happy for you.               o

Extended Family

Tammy wrote me the sweetest email when she inquired about a session with me. She is a photographer in Orange County, and her whole family was going to be in my area for her brother’s graduation from Pepperdine. They wanted to spend some of their time together getting a family portrait done, especially for her mom who is not well. I was honored. We had a wonderful time walking around Paramount Ranch on a gorgeous night in May. I don’t know how I get so fortunate to have the best clients, but I do.

Be sure to visit Tammy’s blog for photography tutorials, party ideas, crafts and more. She’s amazing!

The Last Day

June 15th, 2011

I walked my oldest to school for the last time. I would be lying if I said I didn’t a lump in my throat. I’m pretty sure her first day of Kindergarten was last year. I guess it just feels like it was. We’ve been so fortunate to live within walking distance to our elementary [...]

I walked my oldest to school for the last time. I would be lying if I said I didn’t a lump in my throat. I’m pretty sure her first day of Kindergarten was last year. I guess it just feels like it was. We’ve been so fortunate to live within walking distance to our elementary school. It was comforting knowing my kids were less than 5 minutes away on foot while they were at school.

Next year I’m sending my oldest off to middle school. It’s the same middle school I went to as a kid. I have horrifying memories of the things that went down in the bathrooms, and behind the field in a grove of trees (which no longer exist). I just can’t imagine my sweet little innocent child in that kind of environment. I’ve officially become one of those moms that is afraid to let her child go out into the world. I’m working on it. Until then I’m going to enjoy the long summer days ahead.

The Ewing Family

June 13th, 2011

I’m finally back to blogging some of my sessions. I realize I’m probably the only one who noticed I haven’t posted anything new in a couple of weeks, but I haven’t. The kids are out of school, and I’m finding that it’s much more difficult to balance work and home life. I hope I can [...]

I’m finally back to blogging some of my sessions. I realize I’m probably the only one who noticed I haven’t posted anything new in a couple of weeks, but I haven’t. The kids are out of school, and I’m finding that it’s much more difficult to balance work and home life. I hope I can get a schedule together that makes sense soon.

I’ve been wanting to share this session with you for awhile now. It was the very first mini session I had scheduled on the evening of April 30th. As we got off of the freeway in a frantic hurry to get there we got a call. It was Randy saying he thought they were in the wrong place because nobody was there. I assured him he was in the right spot we were just a few minutes late. I hung up and gave Tim the “I told you so” speech. We had a really hard time getting our kids ready to go and dropped off with Tim’s parents, and then he told me he needed gas. By the time I got there I was not only annoyed with Tim, I was also frazzled and embarrassed to be late.

Let me tell you the Ewings were a blessing to me. They were so gracious and kind, and downright funny. I was laughing the whole time, and I forgot all about our ordeal in getting there. This family is simply amazing. They are wonderful people in every way possible. I can’t say enough good things about them.

The Last Two Frames

It was the end of the session. I was saying goodbye when out of the corner of my eye I saw this going on between grandfather and granddaughter. I rudely walked away from the person I was talking to so I could be closer, and I got these last 2 photos of the session. I know I should never be rude, but in this case I’m glad I was.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new website be sure to pay a visit by going here. There’s still time to win your own session. Details here.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the time you take out of your day to click on my blog. It means a lot to me. As a little thank you for your time, and as a celebration of my new website going live,  I want to give away one free family photo session for this summer. I usually only do this once a year at Christmas time for one deserving family. This time it’s open to anyone. I know I don’t like to enter contests if the process is difficult so I’m making it very easy.  All you have to do is comment at the end of this post telling me what photo was your favorite from my website. OK, so that’s 2 steps. You have to actually look at my website, and then you have to come back here and make a comment. Trust me it will be worth it for a free custom session worth $250. Again, here’s what you do:
