This past August I signed up to be one of 150 photographers around the country who volunteer to offer free family portraits to military family members who have a soldier deployed overseas. The goal of Portraits of Love is to send 10,000 free family portraits to overseas soldiers this fall. I am looking forward to my donated session in a couple of weeks. It is my teeny tiny way of giving back to our soldiers for all that they sacrifice for our country.
Not too long after I signed up for this program a friend of mine, and past client, found out her husband was being deployed for up to a year. I was so happy to meet up with them the day he left and take just a few photos of the kids with their dad in uniform. I am still in awe at what a big sacrifice this is for their family. Just like me they have 4 children. In fact their youngest was born exactly a month before Noah was born. Being the mother of 4 children is daunting enough with the support of a husband at home. I can’t imagine doing it by myself . Then of course there are the children who will miss their father dearly. Here are just a few of my favorites from my brief time with the family. Be sure to check out the slideshow for more. I’m still trying to figure out how to make the slideshow look better. If you have any hints please let me know.
